Natural Chemist is proud to carry SunButter, a brand that was born out of a love and concern for our oceans and coral reefs. Sacha Guggenheimer and Tom Hiney, both marine biologists and conservation ecologists, were working on the Ningaloo Reef in Western Australia when they learned about the harmful effects of chemical sunscreen pollution on our oceans. They felt the pressure between the need to protect their skin from the sun while swimming with Whale Sharks and their desire to protect the World Heritage Listed Ningaloo Reef. This is how SunButter was created.
SunButter began with handmade sunblock for the whale shark guides, photographers, spearo’s, divers, and fishermen of the Ningaloo Reef. Since 2019, SunButter has evolved and expanded to Australia’s first reef-safe sunscreen packaged in reusable and recyclable tins and Australia’s first vegan surf zinc. All SunButter products are listed with the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration and comply with Australia’s world-leading sunscreen standards.
