Precautions and contraindications

Caution is advised with use of hops in patients with hormone sensitive conditions such as breast, uterine and ovarian cancer, as well as endometriosis and uterine fibroids. Some constituents of hops have oestrogenic activity.

Large doses of alfalfa may exacerbate auto-immune diseases by stimulating disease activity. Patients with conditions such as systemic lupus erythematosus, multiple sclerosis or rheumatoid arthritis should avoid, or use, alfalfa with caution.

Adverse effects

Hops, alfalfa, chlorella and rice are generally well-tolerated. Dizziness has been reported with hops, which is attributed to the constituent lupulin. GI discomfort has been reported with alfalfa and rice.

Pregnancy & lactation

Use during pregnancy and lactation is not advised due to insufficient reliable safety data.
